It was a party dedicated to his success, but Nelacey Porter came bearing gifts for a 10-year-old Salem boy.
Sunday, Nelacey was the guest of honor at a celebration thrown by friends and relatives who welcomed him back from
competing at the Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece.
To the delight of Darren Abrahamson, Nelacey gave him an autographed pair of his running shoes and a red T-shirt that
read “2004 Paralympics.”
“How do they fit?” Nelacey asked, smiling, as Darren tried on the shoes.
“Kind of big,” Darren replied.
No matter. The size difference didn't stop Darren from walking around the room in the shiny shoes.
