Volunteer ForeSight
All our volunteers are an integral part of the Foresight team. As with many non-profit organisations, volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and without your help, we couldn’t achieve many of the things we do.
We need people to join our team as volunteers in several specific areas and are looking for commitment and reliability. In return you will be part of a dynamic group sharing the reward of tangible results in the community. It is a great opportunity to brush up dormant skills and enhance your CV.
You can volunteer as much or as little as you like.
Areas where we always need support:
- Arabic translators are always required for helping with our support groups and training sessions.
- If you have skills in photography, film (filming, editing and production) or own a printing press, we can always use your help. Please get in touch.
General volunteers:
Community Care and Research – Project Manager
Foresight is building up a raft of support services and information for people with sight loss in the community, which will also link to local and international research projects. As a member of this team you will be responsible for helping to devise overall strategy and keep a view of the “big picture”. You will help the team members devise action plans and encourage them to keep on track. An ability to gain an understanding of complex projects quickly and to present at a high level is necessary. Time commitment is roughly 1 morning a week, plus availability to attend key meetings (approximately twice a month). Experience in the medical sector useful but not essential.
Funds Coordinator
Foresight raises most of its revenue through events (approx 5 a year). We need someone to oversee the procedure, collection and final reconciliation of the money collected. The funds coordinator attends 1 or 2 of the planning meetings prior to the event to ensure that secure systems are in place at the event itself for counting and collection. Would suit someone with an accounting background or who is meticulous with money.
White Stick Mobility Trainee
Teaching someone who is blind or visually impaired in the most effective way to use a white stick can improve their independence, confidence and mobility. We require Arabic speakers willing to be trained as teachers.
Living with Sight Loss - Counsellor
Professional counselling for people and their families who deal with the impact of sight loss can be invaluable. We require a psychologist or someone with experience in general counselling who would be willing to dedicate a few hours a month. Training would be given specific to visual impairment and sight loss issues. Arabic and English speaker essential.
Communications to Patient Database Co-ordinator
Foresight is about to produce a regular newsletter to people who are visually impaired. It will be available in multi-formats primarily audio. Could you implement the collection of topics, editing, recording and distribution?
Image Library Coordinator
Do you like making scrapbooks or photo albums? We need someone to look through our extensive photo library and, using an online software programme, compile a photo album that will be produced in hard copy. Graphic or creative skills useful.
Event Volunteers
We organise a number of events throughout the year and the more we can plan and organise in advance, the easier life becomes! Are you interested in working on one particular event, such as the Foresight Polo, Dine foreSight or the Dubai Marathon? Our Events Manager would like to get a small team together for each event who will work with her organising the logistics, tickets, sourcing kit, sponsorship etc. Ideally event volunteers will meet every couple of weeks for a quick update. Contact events@foresightrp.com to find out what's happening on our upcoming event calendar.
