Our Aim

Foresight's aim is to help find a cure for retinal diseases that make people go blind, such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) by supporting locally based and international research. We also aim to improve the lives of people who are visually impaired and blind in the UAE through many community initiatives. Foresight is currently establishing a support group for people with RP and other hereditary eye diseases. Foresight is a Dubai-based non-profit organisation and a branch of Tamkeen.

Our Achievements to date:

  • Funding 2 cutting edge research projects into a cure for Retinitis Pigmentosa
  • Provision of accurate information about hereditary eye disease and the progress of research to patients in English and Arabic (ongoing)
  • Reaching people and their families with hereditary eye disease within the U.A.E. in order to set up a support group
  • Assisting Tamkeen in their placement of students who are blind and visually impaired in the workplace
  • Providing the first ever mobility training in Dubai on how to use a white stick. Please click here to read more.
  • Working with other organisations to enable people with blindness to have the opportunity to participate in new activities such as sailing and cycling.
  • Raising awareness of the issues faced by people who are blind and visually impaired and lobbying for improved support, consideration and services through forging strong links with hospitals, ophthalmologists and optometrists, the Department of Health and other government bodies such as the Takamul.
