Emirati Screening Programme

The unique gene pool and the prevalence of inherited retinal diseases in Dubai and the Middle East is of significant interest to the world wide research effort. Dubai could add to the knowledge of gene studies for inherited retinal diseases under the RP umbrella by adding to the world total of families with the condition. There is also a possibility that new genes, responsible for the condition, will be identified.
Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai and the Dubai Health Authority will identify families that are suitable for screening. Foresight will fund the DNA extraction and profiling.
