About Katy
Katy Newitt is the founder and Chairwoman of Foresight.
Katy has a disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa.
She could see as a child but RP means that she has been going blind since her late teens.
Now she has severe tunnel vision and what she does see is indistinct.
In 2004 Katy started running with a friend as a guide and decided to enter the London Marathon. She contacted the British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society in order to raise funds and was informed of the huge progress in research and the optimism of finding a cure... the hope where there was none.
A group of friends got together to help the fundraising effort but it soon became apparent that there were lots of reasons to set long term goals and Foresight was formally launched as a branch of Tamkeen in October 2005.
Katy is a voluntary member of Foresight and remains its inspiration.
